The BMRS Test Kitchen is a state-of-the-art commercial-style kitchen with a 48-inch BlueStar range, grill, salamander, under counter refrigeration, and two prep/sink areas. High-resolution cameras broadcast all of the action directly onto two large flat screen TVs and stream over the Internet.

The Test Kitchen is an ideal platform for chef candidates to showcase their culinary skills to potential employers and to BMRS staff. It has proven especially valuable for those clients with sensitive and confidential searches and provides a private setting for candidates to demonstrate their cooking skills and ability. Clients with new restaurant concepts also enjoy the availability of a professional kitchen to test potential candidates during the construction process.

Clients and the Los Angeles culinary community also use the kitchen for cooking demonstrations, research and development and special dinners prepared by top chefs from Los Angeles and around the country.

The adjacent dining room and chef's counter seats 15 guests comfortably. This intimate setting allows chefs, clients, BMRS staff and guests to interact throughout the cooking and tasting process. The custom high-resolution camera system displays all the activity close-up on the large screen television monitors as each course is created, plated and presented.

Lynda and Brad Metzger designed the Kitchen with help from Evan Funke, Executive Chef at Rustic Canyon in Santa Monica. It was built by General Contractor Ben Lunsky, owner of Sarlan Builders and custom cabinet maker Greg Diez of Millworx. Julie Becker, a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, who has worked in the LA Times Test Kitchen is the BMRS Test Kitchen Manager.
